Walking Between Worlds: Stories Inner City Indigenous Young Adults Tell About School
Presenter:
Marc Kuly
The statistics are clear. Indigenous youth in Manitoba graduate at close to half the rate that non-Indigenous youth graduate school. While the statistics are clear, they do little to explain the experience of actual Indigenous youth. This presentation highlights the findings of an in-depth study into the stories that Indigenous youth tell about their lives while they were in school. It will reveal how hallways and classrooms look and feel for those who are least well served by school. It will also reveal the creativity and resistance that those students display in finding a path to success.
